Bob has been professionally engaged in secondary, further and higher education for 40 years. He has had extensive experience in schools and colleges as a teacher, senior manager, principal and governor. He has worked with head teachers and senior leaders in developing leadership skills for the National College and helped design and deliver the ‘Building Schools for the Future Leadership’ programme.
In recent years, he has worked for government departments where he has provided advice and support for the workforce development plan and leadership development for college principals. He has been Toshiba’s Education Adviser for 13 years and is a writer, presenter and researcher on mobile learning, digital technologies and next generation learning. Bob founded ‘Toshiba Ambassadors’, and helped launch the ‘Digital Leaders’ project.
He is currently the chair of the Teaching Schools New Technology Advisory Board, and was a member of the BCS/RAEng working group, which drafted the new computing national curriculum programmes of study. He was then asked by the DfE/Teaching Agency to chair the ICT expert group to help schools and ITTE providers prepare for the new National Curriculum in Computing which commences in September 2014. He is also a visiting scholar at Stanford University where has links with the Education’s Digital Future project.
