Ultimaker GB is launching 3D printing school initiative CREATE at the Education Innovation Conference on 27-28 February 2014 with the aim to get a 3D printer in every UK school.
Ultimaker’s open source technology enables a collaborative approach between users and offers every student the opportunity to engage in the learning and development process of this disruptive technology.
This announcement follows the introduction of Youmagine.com - a platform for people to access 3D designs and exchange ideas online, and is in line with the UK government’s new curriculum proposals to prioritise coding and 3D printing skills in schools.
Ultimaker has already been working with schools in the UK and has received great feedback from teachers and pupils who have been surprised about how easy the 3D printers are to use and the opportunities they present.
Joan Hamblett, Curriculum Leader for Design & Technology at Parklands High School, said:
“The pupils are amazed at how they can see an object they have designed appearing before them in a matter of minutes. We have already incorporated the Ultimaker 2 into our Y8, Y10 projects and Y11 GCSE work… The Design and Technology department is planning some Career and Personal Development for other staff too to show how it could be used cross curricular to benefit the whole school and not just our department.”
Be sure to see Ultimaker GB on stand C1 at the Education Innovation Event on Thursday and Friday.
