Is tracking progress and recognising achievements making you feel under the weather? Don’t panic! Open Badge Surgeries from DigitalMe are just the right medicine you need.
Nobody can deny that the internet is changing how we learn things, and transforming the workforce young people are entering into. In the field of assessment and accreditation, however, there has been little innovation. Employers are asking for employability skills to become a top education priority (CBI) but schools are struggling to juggle the increasing demands of an assessment system that doesn’t seem designed for this new digital age. So, how can we bridge the skills gap between school and industry?
Open Badges are emerging as a highly effective tool to track, engage and reward the knowledge and skills of people both young and old. The Open Badge movement is being propelled by Mozilla, creators of Firefox, and aims to create a worldwide standard of attainment that anyone can take part in. This movement is not just for the classroom - Open Badges recognise skills outside of traditional learning that are often overlooked by standard grades and testing.
DigitalMe are running some drop in sessions to help Teachers, educators and anyone with an interest in learning new skills. These “Surgeries” are a chance to find out more about Open Badges, learn how they can work for you, and have some fun in the process!
So don’t pull a sick day, get to the top of the waiting list now! The first Open Badge Surgeries take place in Manchester at the Education Innovation Conference & Exhibition on 27th & 28th February 2014.
