Oakford Technology has been protecting education and business data for over six years. The backup service was designed to replace the cumbersome tapes and procedures that we found in most of our schools.
The backup works by encrypting the data within the school before transferring data via the Internet on a secure (encrypted) line where it is then copied twice to two different UK datacentres. A daily email confirms that the data has been successfully backed up.
At the time of going to print, Oakford Backup securely stored over 200TB (Terabytes, or 200,000 Gigabytes!) of data, that’s about 4 million 4-drawer filing cabinets full of text!
Oakford Internet Services
Oakford Internet Services (OIS) is the online division of education ICT specialist Oakford Technology, based in Wiltshire.
Building on the company’s success providing ICT Support for education for almost two decades, OIS provides the very best in isolated, education-only cloud infrastructure. Products include Remote Backup for admin and curriculum data, full Disaster Recovery (DR), E-Safe Internet access, Email, Website design, development and hosting as well as Parental Engagement via Parent Portal. With a customer base both in the UK and internationally, Oakford Internet Services is the sensible choice for education cloud services.
Following the decision to allow freedom of choice for Internet connectivity and services, many UK schools have opted out of local authority control. Oakford witnessed a rise in non-specialist educational Internet providers delivering small-business style services to schools. As a support provider ourselves, Oakford worked with a number of partner schools in order to overcome the shortfalls in these solutions.
Oakford feels well placed to offer E-Safe Internet access providing faster Internet at a better price, without sacrificing the crucial safeguarding of our young people via web filtering and security. Working closely with our long-standing partner schools we enhanced our existing private educational network with a Becta-approved filtering solution to complete the E-Safe Internet offering.
If your school is considering leaving the local education authority network and you would like to make the most of your budget, Oakford Internet Services (OIS) can meet all of your school’s Internet requirements.
